Research Interest:
Activating mutations in receptor tyrosine kinases cause a number of pathologies including genetic diseases and cancer. Understanding how mutant receptors change normal cell function and evade normal mechanisms of negative feedback such as degradation will provide us with a better understanding of cellular physiology and will illuminate new avenues for therapeutic intervention. My research focuses on understanding how activating mutations of the Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor (FGFR) family evade normal mechanism of negative feedback and the feasibility of using preexisting pharmaceuticals to treat FGFR mediated diseases such as Achondroplasia.
